The major components of the writing process are as highlighted below. The foremost component is prewriting, which takes place before one put any sentence on the paper. The component of prewriting involves generation of ideas and plan of what to write. Thus, prewriting as a component of writing requires brainstorming activities (Dell, Amy, Deborah, and Jerry 23). The second component of writing process is the drafting. The component of drafting involves the development of ideas and thoughts by students into words, which leads to effective sentences and paragraphs. The third major component of the writing process is the reviewing. During the process of reviewing, students have the opportunity of reading what they have written and evaluate it accordingly. The last major component of the writing process is editing. Editing in writing process is vital as it helps students to revise their drafts by focusing on crucial aspects such as grammar, word choice, structure, as well as content.
The technology tools that can address the problems with prewriting activities are as discussed below. Graphic organizers tool is crucial in prewriting stage. The graphic organizer tools help students to brainstorm what they need to write about. For instance, graphic organizers give a connection between diagrams and hence opening minds of the student to think. The last technological tool that can be used in addressing problems in prewriting process is the CAST Science Writer, which helps students in planning for their science laboratory reports through Report Structure prewriting tool (Dell, Amy, Deborah, and Jerry 28).
The technology tools that can help in addressing problems with note taking includes wording processing applications, keyboarding among others Dell, Amy, Deborah, and Jerry 24). Word processing applications support students to use correct spelling while taking notes. Subsequently, keyboarding helps the student to become proficient at taking notes on the word document.
There is a significant difference between learning to read and reading to learn. The main difference between the two terms is that learning to read is a process where a person who does not know to read, use available learning material to know the reading process. Contrarily, reading to learn is when a person has already gone through the reading process and hence they only read to gain knowledge.
